LAUNCHING A NEW, NATIONAL HEALTHCARE EVENT

CONVENING CHANGEMAKERS TO EXPLORE WHAT’S NEEDED, WHAT’S NEXT AND WHAT’S POSSIBLE IN HEALTHCARE

Challenge

It’s both an exciting and challenging time in the healthcare industry, and the best examples of successful solutions are when organizations and leaders put their heads together to share ideas and spark new possibilities.

That’s why when former Independence Health Group CEO Daniel J. Hilferty launched Dune View Strategies – a strategic advisory firm aimed at accelerating opportunity and growth for emerging healthcare companies – one of his first priorities was to host an event that would bring these conversations to Philadelphia.

The inspiration behind the Summit was to convene national leaders, experts and entrepreneurs who are driving change in healthcare for honest and insightful conversations about the future. HealthKey was also intended to showcase Philadelphia, its healthcare community and the entrepreneurial genius that fuels the region as an epicenter of innovation.

Despite challenges, I truly believe there is cause for optimism – especially if we put our heads together to find new solutions.

– Daniel J. Hilferty

Approach

HealthKey Summit was born from the goal of “unlocking the future of healthcare” by creating an exclusive experience that would connect executives, entrepreneurs and investors for meaningful conversations and impactful networking.

Over two-and-a-half days at four world-class venues – including a dinner reception at the Barnes Foundation, full day of programming at the Comcast Technology Center, networking reception at the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia and a half day of programming at Independence Blue Cross’ headquarters – the inaugural Summit in November 2022 attracted more than 340 attendees. The audience was represented by seasoned C-suite executives representing payers, providers, health systems and more; trailblazing startups, entrepreneurs and disruptors; established investors and financiers; as well as policymakers, researchers, academics and other experts.

The dynamic agenda featured some of the nation’s most inspiring health and innovation thought leaders, including:

  • Adam Myers, M.D., MHCM, FACHE, Chief Clinical Officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association
  • Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation
  • Cheri Mowrey, Head of US Healthcare Investment Banking, Morgan Stanley
  • Gregory E. Deavens, President & CEO, Independence Blue Cross
  • Frank Ingari, CEO, Tandigm Health
  • Jay Feldstein, President and CEO, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Jeff Marrazzo, Co-Founder and Former CEO, Spark Therapeutics
  • Kevin B. Mahoney, CEO, University of Pennsylvania Health System
  • Michael Forman, Chairman and CEO, FS Investments
  • Dr. Meera Mani, Senior Partner, Town Hall Ventures
  • Patrick Kennedy, Former U.S. Representative & Founder, The Kennedy Forum
  • Steven H. Collis, Chairman, President and CEO, AmerisourceBergen
  • Walt Norley, Founder and CEO, OnBalance

Co-presented by Dune View Strategies and Futuretense Health – a Brian Communications company – the joint team handled nearly all aspects of event creation and planning – from designing a logo and brand suite, launching a digital presence and developing a well-rounded speaker lineup – to execution – including venue and vendor management, on-site coordination and publicity.

We’re looking forward to continuing the HealthKey Summit in 2024.

The inaugural HealthKey Summit brought together 340+ industry leaders, experts and entrepreneurs who are driving change in healthcare.

The action-packed agenda featured dynamic conversations between industry-leading experts and executives as well as presentations from up-and-coming entrepreneurs.

The idea for the Summit was driven by Daniel J. Hilferty’s desire to bring a spotlight to Philadelphia as a growing epicenter of healthcare research and innovation.
